| Bio: | Life List (Non Comprehensive): 1 Listen to Mussorgsky's Pictures at an Exhibition (Картинки с выставки) while at the Great Gate of Kiev 2 Read three major works in their original language (Divina Commedia, Война и миръ, Faust: der Tragödie erster und zweiter Teil ) 3 Ride the Trans-Siberian Railroad (Транссибирская магистраль) 4 Attend a bullfight in Spain 5 Plan, and execute, the 'Magellan Trip'
I am a graduate student pursuing dual Master's degrees in both Library Science (specializing in rare books and manuscripts) and Russian and Eastern European Studies (specializing in Czech area studies).
Lately, I've been very interested in Eastern and Central European languages. I am fluent in English, proficient in French, and have a very small amount of both functional Czech and Hebrew. I am currently teaching myself Russian. In the future, I am interested in learning (to at least basic proficiency) Latin, Czech, German, Serbocroatian, Ukranian, Lithuanian, and Latvian.
I frequently feel a substantial disconnect with contemporary American society. As a result, I fill my life with experiences, music, art, and literature in order to sufficiently placate my unhappiness with the present-day. I identify heavily with European intellectual, political, and cultural movements, and feel substantially more at home in Central and Eastern Europe than I do in America.
I want to decorate my house with danse macabre art work and too many bookshelves.
Places I've traveled to: - Sarajevo, Bosnia - Belgrade, Serbia - Prague, Czech Republic - Budapest, Hungary - Tel Aviv/Jerusalem/Be'er Sheba/Tiberius/Tzafat, Israel - London, England - Frankfurt, Germany - Vienna, Austria - Zagreb/Split, Croatia - Paris, France - Grand Cayman Islands, UK - Montreal/Toronto, Canada
Trips I would like to take: - Pyongyang, North Korea - Trans-Siberian Rail Road - Kiev/Lviv/Chernihiv, Ukraine - Vilnius, Lithuania - Moscow/St Petersburg/Irkutsk/Omsk/Lake Baikal, Russia - Warsaw/Cracow, Poland - Seville, Spain (for a bullfight) - Dublin/Edinborough, UK - Bucharest/Transylvania, Romania - Greece, Turkey, Jordan, Israel, Egypt, Morocco (in one trip) - Kalua Lampur
